I've always been upfront on the fact that I just completely suck at this whole social media and blogging thing, always way behind on getting things up on here (is this where I add in #honesty and #isuckatblogging), actually, I'm usually behind the times on most things; Fashion, Instagram (I think I got on the bandwagon a year after the hype died down about it), just the usual on trend things that make people cool at present moment. I don't mind though haha. Anyway, in regards to being terrible at blogging I am finally sharing some photos from my birthday shindig back in March (see, told you I'm terrible!).
I turned a quarter of a century as people say. 25. Still a young duck, still trying to get my head around the fact I am 25. Not sure when that happened. I have to remind myself I am an adult, and adulting away at life (which is sometimes quite hard, and stressful, something we didn't get told as kids).
To celebrate reaching this age, I decided I wanted to throw a celebration for the special ones in my life. Kind of like a thank you for always being there and accepting me for who I am, flaws and all.
One thing I know, is that I am pretty darn lucky to have such an awesome bunch of amazing friends.
So what does one do to celebrate being 25 and having wicked mates? BIRTHDAY SHINDIG!! Yep, a shindig my friends. A shindig involving a ton of fairy lights, pulled pork buns (YES!), a dessert table (double YES!), a wheelbarrow full of bevvies, my fav music, blankets and pillows, an upside-down parasol, and of coarse, my favourite folk all together.
It was a fantastic night. Though, typical me, when friends started arriving, I was still icing my cake and decorating the place! I have an awesome knack of that haha so when the day comes I meet a lovely man, who wants to put a ring on it and get hitched, I will be handing the reins over to someone else...because I'm not sure if it's acceptable for a bride to be still decorating the venue when guests are rocking up haha.
We danced away to old school hits, country tunes (yes, there had to be some country songs), and of coarse Uptown Funk was played. We ate some delicious food. If you're interested, here's what was on offer:
entree
various dips & turkish bread
main
homemade pulled pork buns
potato salad
dessert
birthday cake - dense chocolate cake
vanilla & dark chocolate macaroons
chocolate marshmallows
Being typically me, I made most of it...apart from the dips and bread. The day before I spent 9 hours cooking the pulled pork, and my it was worth every darn minute of it. My darling friend made the potato salad. I made my cake on the day (which may involved a text to my friend declaring that I thought I ruined it...turned out I didn't), note to self, it's probably best to make the cake the day before...save yourself some stress haha. The macaroons and marshmallows were made in advance (pat on my back for at least some good planning haha).
I had a ton of laughs, was spoilt rotten, and had a blast. I think it's safe to say, the shindig was a success.
And last but not least, the BIGGEST thanks to Kristy at Pretty Willow for some awesome items to make the setting even more perfect!
Her gorgeous turquoise dresser for my desserts, a lovely white table for the drinks station, and the most awesome vintage wheelbarrow for the bevvies! Ladies and gents, if you like these things, you too can hire them for your shindig..do it ;)
